Hi, I'm Bowen โ€” Little Jay's Dad

Little Jay has been my constant companion since he was 8 weeks old. When he quietly started slowing down in 2024, I built this site to share what I've learned โ€” so other senior Husky parents don't have to figure it out alone.

My Story

Why I built SeniorHusky.com

It began with something small but unforgettable. In early 2024, I reached for my keys for our weekend trail trip. Little Jay didn't race to the door or leap into the truck like he always had. He just stood at the tailgate, looking up at me โ€” hesitant. No whipping tail, no eager jump. I had to coax him with treats and a gentle lift. That quiet moment told me everything: my high-energy adventure buddy was entering his senior years.

Things got harder fast. Severe arthritis hit โ€” to the point where he couldn't stand up from his bed without obvious pain. We started carprofen for relief, but I knew long-term use could stress his liver. Desperate to help him, I decided to try something bigger. For six full months, I cooked balanced, fresh meals for him every single day โ€” high-protein, joint-supporting ingredients, nothing processed. At the same time, probiotics helped settle his on-and-off diarrhea almost completely. Slowly, his mobility came back. We tapered the carprofen under vet supervision until he was off it entirely.

The vets were stunned. They had told me upfront that it is pretty much impossible to wean off of his meds, and that things will get worse from there. But the change in Little Jay was undeniable: steadier steps, brighter eyes, happier days. I wish I'd known earlier about the subtle signs of aging in Huskies, the difference nutrition and gut support can make, and how much persistence matters. That's why I started this site โ€” to pass on everything I've learned so other owners can give their silver-muzzled companions the best possible golden years.
